There are several different cosmetic and aesthetic procedures that seem to go by the name Brazilian. The Brazilian butt lift is perhaps not the best known, but it is a very popular option in a cosmetic surgery procedure in Austin.
As the name implies, the Brazilian butt lift is about reshaping the posterior. It is not the same as a facelift in that there is no large incisions made and no skin or tissue removed from the area.
The Procedure
The Brazilian butt lift is actually a two-part procedure that is done at one time. The cosmetic surgeon removes fatty tissue from one part of the body and inserts it into the area of the buttocks to be lifted or shaped.
The fat cells are usually removed from areas where the patient wishes to streamline or contour. For most women, the fat removal sites are the abdominal area and the outer thighs. The amount of fatty tissue removed is not extensive, but the added thinning of those areas combined with the shaping of the buttocks creates noticeable results.
As with all types of procedures involving liposuction, small incisions will be made in the areas where the fat cells are harvested as well as where they are injected to create the desired rounder, firmer shape of the buttocks.
For most patients, the procedure lasts about four hours. Patients are typically required to avoid sitting for two weeks, followed by several weeks with limited activity. A specialized compression garment is worn over the areas where the fatty tissue was removed for approximately one month.
As with any type of procedure, your Austin plastic surgeon can evaluate your goals for the procedure as well as your overall health. The doctor also reviews the procedure, the risks and the recovery needs with each patient before determining if this is the right process to accomplish their goals.
