As environmental awareness grows, many consumers are considering trading in their luxury cars in favor of a greener choice. However, with new options in the luxury car marketplace, one doesn’t necessarily have to be sacrificed for the sake of the other. The Toyota Prius continues to be a popular option for many environmentally conscious consumers who are seeking luxury cars for sale without sacrificing the creature comforts they have become accustomed to. And the long awaited new luxury vehicle, the Fisker Karma, hit the market in late 2011 joining other luxury cars for sale, after making its debut at a 2008 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The Fisker Karma is a plug-in hybrid luxury sports sedan that combines high performance and luxury with the latest hybrid technology.

The Karma is a hybrid that allows drivers to choose gas or electric power. The EPA rated its combined fuel economy at 52mpg, in all-electric mode, and at 20mpg in gas only mode. The car is also the first of any vehicle or luxury cars for sale to include a solar panel in its roof. The Karma is impressively able to reach up to 95 miles per hour when in electric only mode. Drivers will also appreciate that the Karma can travel up to 32 miles without gas when fully charged. The charging of the battery takes only about six hours. The interior of the car is made from natural and recyclable materials and is available with trim made from sustainable and animal-free textiles rather than leather. Wood trim is made from certified rescued wood reclaimed from southern California forest fires. The Karma also comes in a convertible model.

Consumers who are considering the Karma when exploring luxury cars for sale on the market will also be able to take advantage of the latest technology that is customarily available in exotic cars. Information is displayed on LCD screens located in the center console, and the LCD touch screen allows you to control climate, audio, navigation, telephone, and other vehicle systems.

The car is raising the bar for the hybrid industry and will easily be able to compete with non-hybrid luxury cars for sale from manufacturers like Mercedes and Audi. The luxury four-door sedan does not sacrifice style in the process of designing environmentally sensitive engineering. Designed in California and built in Finland at a plant which also produces Porsche, the Karma is the first vehicle to hit the market from the Fisker company.
