Now that you have your own apartment, it’s time to start thinking about acquiring renter’s insurance. You may not own the building that you are living in, but you probably own your furniture, electronic devices, some appliances, your clothing, and your sporting equipment. If there is a fire, flood, tornado, or theft, you need insurance to cover the cost of replacing the essential personal property in your life. Your insurance may also cover the cost of additional housing if your current living arrangement is not available.
