Tips on Cleaning Your Drink Dispenser

Owning a restaurant comes with a lot of responsibility and neglecting those responsibilities could put your customer’s health in jeopardy. One of the most important responsibilities you have in your restaurant is to clean and maintain your Drink Dispenser on a regular basis. Neglecting to clean this important appliance will lead to the buildup of grime and mold, which can taint the drinks that come out of it. Many health inspectors will check your drink dispenser nozzles to ensure that they are clean and if they are not, then you will be fined. The following are a few tips on cleaning your drink dispenser.

The Prepping Phase

The first thing you need to do when trying to clean your drink dispenser is to empty all of the liquid that is still in the container. The next thing you need to do is to run hot water through the tank and the dispenser, this will allow you to flush any remnants of beverage that still remains in the dispenser. The more leftover liquid you can get rid of, the cleaner you will be able to get the machine, which should be your main objective.

Mixing the Solution

The next thing you will have to do is mix the cleaning solution you will use for the drink dispenser. You need to start by getting a container that has around a quart of hot water in it and then mix in some soap and vinegar. This solution will help to not only clean the drink dispenser it will also serve as a disinfectant. This is important because it helps to kill the germs and bacteria that reside in the dispenser that can be very harmful if left untreated.

Cleaning the Dispenser

After you get your solution mixed up, it will be time to run it through your machine. You need to hold your hand over the tap of your dispenser so it can stay in the machine and do its job. You need to shake it around and make sure that it gets all around the tank because this is the only way to get the dispenser truly clean. After you are done, you can drain the solution by using the spigot on the front of the machine. One it is drained, you need to get a cloth and wipe it down to remove all of the leftover solution.
