The Basics Of Laser Lipo

Most people have stubborn areas of fat on their body that just don’t seem to go away. These areas are often on the lower part of the abdominal area, on the thighs, buttocks, the upper arms or even around the hips and the waist area. Removing these fatty areas with the new technology of laser lipo can help you achieve a smooth, toned look over any area of the body.

Not Liposuction

The term laser lipo, which is short for laser lipolysis, should not be confused with traditional liposuction. In traditional liposuction very small incisions were made to the outside of fatty deposits, and a cannula was inserted into the fatty tissue. A vacuum was then used to remove the fatty tissue.

This process does remove the fatty tissue, but even the most skilled doctor had little ability to contour and blend the area, often leaving slightly irregular ridges between treated and non-treated areas. Skin often didn’t simply tighten up, often leaving a pouch or saggy look that didn’t go away. In addition, there was often significant bruising, and swelling, and in some cases there was an increased risk of infection at the sites of the incisions.

The Laser Lipo Option

Laser lipo is non-invasive and does not require any invasive surgical procedures. This means no risk of incision site infection and no trauma to the tissue. Without the liposuction component there is no bruising, no swelling, and no pain, making it a very good option for all those problem areas of the body.

The way that laser lipo works is through the use of a fiber-optic laser that emits different wavelengths of energy. These wavelengths actually melt the fat in the body, without any damage to surrounding tissue. With the use of the laser technique, there is an increase in the production of collagen in the areas treated.

Collagen, as a result of the laser lipo, works to tighten the existing skin. This reduces the risk of sagging skin, even with significant reduction of fatty tissue in the treated location. The professional providing the treatment can easily contour the fat removal to blend perfectly with the surrounding tissue, leaving a very natural look.

With laser lipo, patients can be treated in a clinical or spa setting with no requirements for hospitalization or anesthesia. This is a completely pain-free procedure and one that has minimal downtime, allowing you to have a treatment and go back to your normal routine all on the same day.
