Prospective Truckers Need To Attend A CDL Training Program

A trucker has good job security in the U.S. Industry insiders say there was an increase of over 320,000 jobs between 2004 and 2014. Further, truckers have a potential starting salary of over $40,000. The industry expects continued growth because almost every product people use is transported by truck. Potential drivers must have a commercial driver’s license (CDL). A CDL allows the driver to operate a vehicle with a weight rating of over 26,001 pounds. Examples of such vehicles include tractor trailers, tow trucks and buses that carry 16 or more people.

Many people associate CDL’s with trucking but there are many other jobs available. For example, contractors always need truck drivers on job sites. It is a good idea to attend a CDL Training Program to get started. Star Truck Driving School is one of the leaders in the industry. They offer training programs seven days a week on a full-time and part-time basis. Classes are held on the weekends or during the week. Most classes take four weeks and drivers receive either a Class A or Class B CDL. Class A allows one to operate a tractor/trailer combination, while class B is for straight trucks.

Drivers are required to pass three written tests, general knowledge, combination knowledge and air brake knowledge. Next, students have to pass a three-part driving test. The driving test includes a pre-trip inspection, skills test and an over-the-road test. Fortunately, most schools give drivers three chances to pass the test. However, students have to wait thirty days before re-testing. Many schools evaluate students to see if they need more training in order to pass.

There are many different ways to pay for Company Name including the G.I. bill. In addition, most schools allow students to pay a down-payment and make instalment payments. Further, some students may be eligible for state and federal grants. Star has a preferred placement system for the CDL training program. Students are eligible if they receive the Class A CDL, have no drug or felony convictions and pass all classroom tests with at least an 80 percent GPA. CDL license holders have many career opportunities and the chance to work in more than one field.
