The core of the wire rope can be made from various materials such as steel and plastic.

A wire rope can also be referred to as a cable and it is classified according to its characteristics. These include the size of the rope, steel grade and how it performs. It is also classified according to how many strands it consists of and the how many wires are in the strands. Wire rope lay is broadly categorized as regular and Lang’s.
