Is Zone Heating for You?

by | Dec 30, 2014 | Business

If you live in a large house, or a two story house, zone heating is probably for you. So what is it? With zone heating multiple thermostats are used to detect temperature and distribute heat. This type of zoning could save you money and help conserve energy as well. Most importantly it will keep everyone comfortable.

Benefits of Using Zones
There are so many benefits to having your home or office zoned. Here are just three of them:

* Comfort: It makes sense. The reason we put heat and central air conditioning in our homes is to keep us comfortable. If your home is zoned, you can keep people in the living room warm and those in the kitchen cool.

* Save Money and Conserve Energy. These two go hand in hand. Why would you want the second floor of your house, where all the bedrooms are, to be kept as warm as the living area during the day when no one is up there? Conserve energy and save on your heating bills by lowering the temperature settings upstairs during the day. At night, set the downstairs temperatures lower when everyone is upstairs asleep.

The Whole Family is Happy
Let’s face it. It’s hard to get a group of people together and have them all agree on the perfect temperature, whether at home or in an office building. Zone heating makes everyone happy. No one will ever be complaining about being too hot or too cold again. If they’re feeling either way, all they have to do is adjust their zone and they’ll be comfortable without making anyone else uncomfortable. Putting zones on timers is also a great way to save money. If your house is empty during the day, you can set the temperature accordingly, and have it timed to warm up a little more just before you get home.

Decision
The decision to zone is yours. Whether you’re building a new home or have an existing HVAC system in place, you can choose how many zones you would like. While zoning is good for many, there are some people and housing situations where a single zone works just fine. The ultimate decision is yours.
